At First Foundation Advisors, we take asset allocation to a new level. In addition to the traditional allocation of stocks and bonds, our goal is to add significant value to our clients' portfolios by incorporating alternative investments where appropriate.

Our alternative investments include hedge funds, private equity, private real estate and commodities. We incorporate alternative strategies through mutual funds and sub-advisors as appropriate. By using alternative investments, we can enhance portfolio diversification and yield with less volatility.

The advantages of alternative investments include the ability to:

• Achieve the portfolio diversification levels of select university and foundation endowment funds, which have historically succeeded in increasing investment returns while reducing volatility.
• Invest in high-investment-minimum assets that typically are available only to ultra high-net-worth clients or major foundations.
• Provide more transparency and liquidity.
